Department of Pre-primary and Primary Pedagogy involved in the project Erasmus + Learning by Doing Attainment of Basic Competencies in ECEC (ABC for kindergartens) (2020-2023)

Since 1 November 2020, the transnational project “Learning by Doing – Development of Key Competencies in Preschool Education (ABC for Kindergartens)” has been running. The project will bring together eight organizations from three European countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia) to improve pre-school education by introducing innovative educational approaches and procedures and ensuring the comprehensive development of pre-school child competencies. Project goals will be achieved by supporting kindergarten teachers in effectively applying project learning and activity learning in pre-school education. The project aims to encourage teachers to move from the role of “leaders” to the role of “guide” to the learning process. The project will create a methodology for teachers to expand their teaching practice and thus support their professional development. Project methodology includes promoting children’s-focused approaches to developing creativity, independence, self-sufficiency, motivation to learn, awareness of one’s rights and responsibilities, problem-solving, self-assessment and evaluation of children’s own knowledge and needs.
